In conjunction with our Kerry James Marshall: Collected Works exhibition, we invite literature and art enthusiasts to immerse themselves in the science-fiction classic Kindred by African-American writer Octavia Butler. Every Tuesday, from October 9 to November 6, participants will engage in the reading and discussion of Butler’s fantastical account of a late 20th-century African-American woman confronting her struggle with the bondage of her ancestry. Through Butler’s time-warping critique of American history, participants will develop insights into the ways Kerry James Marshall has embedded himself into the history of modern art. rennie ruseum Book Club is FREE and open to the public.
